Manchester's new Fake Bake tanning salon

Destination Beauty on the lower floor of Selfridges, Manchester, is enough to make even the most composed product junkies get the flutters. On Thursday, the make up mecca of the north added another top brand to it’s impressive list, Fake Bake.
To celebrate the launch of their new salon, Fake Bake invited press and bloggers to come down and check out what was on offer. Tanning extraordinaire James Read, who has worked with some of the worlds most notoriously glam super stars including Lady gaga and Britney Spears, was on hand to provide classes and expert advice.

Lucky for BVC, we got the chance to chat to James about how quality brands such as Fake Bake are helping to decrease the soring rate of skin cancer. As we’re all aware, sun beds and showers put us at risk from harmful UV rays which in turn damage our skin and can cause cancer. ‘’I think people using fake tan has increased because people are more aware of the dangers of using sun beds and of course the aging, I mean you don’t want to look like a leather hand bag!”

So what about beating the ‘tangoed’ stigma? “The great thing about tanning now is that it’s more advanced and you don’t look unnatural” James has recently collaborated with Fake Bake to create a new line of ‘neon tans’, but don’t be put off by the name! The spray tans leave a subtle colour to add that little bit of luxury to your look.

The sleek salon is now open, providing spray tans, consultations and hair appointments, on the lower floor of Selfridges, Manchester.
